Auckland Sword and Shield is once again hosting an 8-week beginners course aimed at providing fundamental insight in to the Sport/Martial Art of Historical European Martial Arts (HEMA).

This course will be run by Dean, our chief instructor, and will primarily be focused on Side Sword, popular in the renaissance period. Once you have completed the course, a brief safety grading and joined the club proper, a number of different weapons will be open to you, ranging from arming sword through to longsword, saber, various pole arms. The options are (almost) limitless!

Please note that there may be some breaks in the course due to public holiday weekends.

All our courses and indeed the club itself are run by volunteers; all proceeds go to keeping the club running.
